FedEx API Update – Kicking Off 2026, the Year of Opportunity
As we step into 2026 — the Year of Opportunity, we’re excited to share what’s ahead and highlight an important update regarding FedEx API integrations. The new year brings fresh momentum, new possibilities, and meaningful improvements across our platform — and the FedEx API transition is one of the first major milestones we’ll be tackling together.
What’s Changing in Q1 2026
Rock Solid is rolling out the updated FedEx API in Q1 2026, moving away from the current API key pull and test-label approval method used today. This change is required by FedEx and represents an important step forward in how FedEx carrier accounts are added and maintained going forward.
With the new API, adding FedEx accounts will require full account details, rather than pulling keys and submitting test labels for approval. Based on the information we’ve received from RS so far, this may include:
- Company name
- Billing address
- Account number
- Additional account-level details as required by FedEx
Account Conversions & Partner Involvement
Once the updated API is released, our Tech Support team will begin converting all existing FedEx accounts to the new integration. This is a major undertaking, and one we’re approaching with careful planning and hands-on support.
While we’ll handle as much of the process as possible internally, there will be situations where additional information is needed from partners and/or their customers if that data isn’t already available in our systems. Your timely responses will help keep conversions moving smoothly and minimize any disruption.
We truly appreciate your partnership as we work through this important transition.
Key 2026 Milestones
- January 30, 2026 – FedEx will no longer allow new API keys to be pulled for the current API
- February 2026 (target) – RS plans to release the updated FedEx API
- June 2026 – The existing FedEx API will be fully retired and will no longer function
- All FedEx accounts must be converted before this date
- All FedEx accounts must be converted before this date
Recommendation for New Onboarding
If you’re planning to onboard new FedEx customers between late January and February 2026, we strongly recommend:
- Pulling and approving FedEx API keys before February 1, 2026, if possible
This approach provides flexibility and ensures customers can continue shipping on the current API in the interim, should there be any unexpected bumps during the initial rollout of the new integration.
2026: Building What’s Next
This FedEx transition is just the beginning. 2026 is shaping up to be a year of opportunity, with several exciting initiatives already underway, including:
- More integration options for connecting to additional platforms and sites
- New paths for creating shipments
- Expanded and more flexible ways to connect and use carrier accounts
As these projects continue to take shape, we’ll be sharing more details throughout the year.
Here’s to a strong start, smart transitions, and a year focused on progress, possibility, and partnership. We’re excited to build what’s next — together.
