When a prospective client asks “what makes YOU different,” the answer worth leading with is a number they can see for themselves.
That’s the idea behind a wave of work coming out of our Analysis team this quarter, and it’s worth knowing about, because it changes what you can put in front of a prospect.
For years, savings conversations leaned on spreadsheets and PDF reports. They were accurate, but they made the client do the work of finding the insight. We’ve been rebuilding that experience from the ground up: live HTML dashboards that turn raw shipping data into a clear, visual story. Instead of a forty-tab workbook, a client, or a prospect, sees their savings front and center, broken down by carrier, by service level, by quarter, built to be understood in under a minute.
That matters in a competitive bid. A clean visual that says “here’s what you saved with (YOUR COMPANY), and here’s what’s still on the table” does more to close a deal than another rate sheet ever will.
Last year we rolled out the Partner Status Report, a self-contained HTML report giving each Partner a clear read on where they stand with BF. Version two (v2) is now underway, and it’s a meaningful upgrade. Every applicable charge is now factored into the calculation, data that was previously left out of the report has been folded in, and the tier calculation itself has been refined to give a more accurate picture of your turnover.
The goal is simple: a Partner Status Report you can actually use to plan. If you’re working toward the next tier, this report should tell you exactly where you stand and what’s left to close the gap.
To support this, the Analysis team itself is growing, and not just in headcount. We’re bringing in new tooling and AI-assisted workflows to handle the data work that used to take days: parsing carrier files, reconciling rates across networks, flagging savings opportunities before anyone has to ask. The goal isn’t to replace the analyst’s judgment, it’s to free up time for the part that actually wins business, which is understanding a client’s shipping profile well enough to tell them something they didn’t already know.
We’re also laying the groundwork for a platform that brings all of this together in one place. Right now, every dashboard and every report gets built piece by piece. The platform we’re building will let you, as a Partner, pull together benchmarking, savings tracking, and reporting in one place, then generate a polished final report to hand to a prospect or client, no custom build required on our end every time. The platform itself stays a tool for our Partners; what your client sees is the finished report, ready to support your pitch. More on this as it gets closer to ready, but the short version: what takes a custom project today should take a few clicks down the road.
In the coming weeks, this is where most of our internal focus will be: fewer one-off reports, more reusable dashboards and visuals that scale across every Partner and every client.
We’re also building reports designed to help you quickly flag clients who aren’t performing the way they should, or who may be sitting in the wrong place altogether, whether that’s the wrong carrier, the wrong service tier, or a setup that no longer fits their volume. The dashboards live today already give you an early version of this, surfacing the outliers in a client’s data at a glance. A dedicated version of this report is coming next.
The other piece of this is the Quarterly Business Review we’ve built out for our Anchor accounts. It’s a single, holistic look at a client’s shipping data over the quarter: where they’re spending, where they’re losing money to avoidable surcharges or a suboptimal carrier mix, and concrete recommendations for tightening it up.
The point of the QBR isn’t to report numbers, it’s to build trust over time. When a client can see, quarter after quarter, exactly how much you have saved them and why, the relationship stops being about one negotiated rate and starts being about an ongoing partnership. That’s a much harder thing for a competitor to undercut with a one-time lower quote.
If you’re talking to a prospect who’s shipping with FedEx, UPS, or DHL today and wondering what switching actually gets them, this is the story to tell: BF doesn’t just deliver a rate and disappear. We keep benchmarking, keep tracking the savings, and we’re building the tools to make that visible faster than ever.
And that support doesn’t stop at the report. The Analysis team is here whenever you’re working a deal, pulling a number, building a case, or just need a second set of eyes before a client call. Winning the client is a team effort, and we’d rather be in it with you from the start.
Watch this space. As the dashboards, the Partner Status Report, and the platform all take shape, we’ll get you what you need to bring straight to your next pitch.
Thank you for the trust you continue to place in BF. It’s the reason these tools get built in the first place.
